A team at the “Technology and Society” division at EMPA, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, has investigated the behavior of silver coatings in the washing machine. They discovered that textiles with nano-coatings release fewer nano-particles into the washing water than those with normal coatings. As a result, the researchers maintain that nano-textiles should not be subjected to stricter regulation than textiles with conventional silver-coatings, and this is relevant for current discussions concerning possible special regulations for nano-silver.
On 18th June 2014, Denmark's order concerning a nano-products register entered into force. The order imposes annual reporting requirements on manufacturers and importers concerning mixtures and products containing nanomaterials that are intended for sale to the Danish general public. The first reporting period is running until 30th August 2015.
Interreg IVB NWE Project NANORA won the first prize at the German INTERREG B Project Slam, which took place as part of the national kick-off event for the new INTERREG B funding period 2014 – 2020 in Berlin on 6 May 2014.
